Dr. Amy Case is the director of palliative medicine at the VA Western New York Healthcare System and the program director for the University at Buffalo (UB) Palliative Medicine Fellowship. She is an associate professor in the division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at UB. She is also the attending physician of a twenty-bed palliative care and rehabilitation inpatient unit and the lead physician of the busy palliative care inpatient consult service at the VA.
Dr. Case completed her residency in internal medicine at the University at Buffalo and went on to complete a fellowship in palliative and pain medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Pain Medicine. She has several published articles and book chapters, with a focus on neuropathic pain, prognosis and palliative medicine education. She is involved with both academic and scholarly projects involving palliative medicine and pain. Dr. Case has given many lectures locally and has been invited nationally to speak on palliative and pain topics. She teaches medical students, residents, and fellowship. Dr. Case serves as chair for the education special interest group for the national organization, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).
