Zhi-hua Zhu, MD, PhD, is an associate professor in State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Cancer Center, Sun Yat-sen University. Dr. Zhu received his M.D. degree and then trained as a postdoctoral fellow in Sun Yat-sen University. Dr. Zhu has actively been engaged in the pre-clinical and clinical studies on chest tumors including lung cancer, esophageal carcinoma, and breast cancer, with special interests in the palliative treatment of tumors and the individualized treatment of lung cancers. Dr. Zhu has participated in the National 863 key Program on ‘Molecular Typing and Individualized Treatment of Lung Cancer and Esophageal Carcinoma’. Furthermore, Dr. Zhu is the responsible person for a number of research projects supported by National Natural Science Fund, Ministry of Human Resources, and many other State- and province-level institutions. He has served as a fellow or visiting scholar in the United States in 2009 and in France and Germany in 2010. Dr. Zhu has published articles in Journal of Clinical Oncology (Zhu ZH, et al. Three immunomarker support vector machines-based prognostic classifiers for stage IB non-small-cell lung cancer. J Clin Oncol. 2009;27:1091-9.), Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Medical Oncology, and many other peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Zhu is a member of the editorial committee of Journal of Thoracic Disease and an expert evaluator for Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education of China. He won the ‘Ding Ying Science and Technology Award’ issued by the Province of Guangdong in 2010.
