Pasithorn Amy Suwanabol, MD is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Colorectal Surgery with a clinical practice at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. Dr. Suwanabol graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. in Biology. She received her M.D. from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2007. She completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in 2014 and her fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Massachusetts-Memorial Hospital Medical Center in 2015. Dr. Suwanabol joined the faculty at the University of Michigan (U-M) in September 2015 and received her MS from the U-M School of Public Health in 2017.

Dr. Suwanabol's research interest focuses on improving palliative and end-of-life care for surgical patients using both quantitative and qualitative methods, and has received funding through multiple surgical societies. She and a clinical ethicist facilitate the ethics curriculum for the general surgery residents at the U-M. She has been a member of the American College of Surgeons Surgical Palliative Care Committee since 2019.
