Annals of Palliative Medicine (APM) is indexed in SCIE: A milestone for the journal!

On January 11, 2019, we received the good news from Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Science Business) that Annals of Palliative Medicine (APM) has been indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and articles published since 2016 will all be included.

APM is the 11th journal of AME Publishing Company included by SCIE, following the other ten sister journals:

Annals of Palliative Medicine (Ann Palliat Med; Print ISSN 2224-5820; Online ISSN 2224-5839) was launched in April 2012 with the Editors-in-Chief Dr. Howard S. Smith (Albany Medical Center College, Albany, NY, USA) and Dr. Zhi-hua Zhu (State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Cancer Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China) as a peer reviewed, open access journal published quarterly. Currently led by Dr. Charles B. Simone (University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD, USA) and Dr. Zhi-hua Zhu as the Editors-in-Chief, APM is further supported by a strong lineup of 82 experts worldwide in the field of palliative medicine as the Editorial Board members (Figure 1). APM’s editorial board members are from 18 countries. Among them, 39% comes from USA, 15% comes from China, 9% comes from UK, 7% comes from Canada and 15% others include Singapore, Norway, Poland, Brazil, Belgium ant etc. (Figure 2).

During 2018, APM has published 86 manuscripts, among which there are 54 Original Articles, Review Articles and Case Report. Corresponding authors of 86 articles published in 2018 come from 17 countries. Among them, 28% comes from USA and 17% comes from Canada. The “Others” section includes authors from countries like Austria, Germany, France, Brazil and etc (Figure 3). By publishing high-quality articles, APM made lots of progresses in the past seven years, such as the quantity of articles (Figure 4), the growing citations and the coverage of international readers (Figure 5, 6).

Speaking of high-quality articles, we also would like to take this chance to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Guest Editors and Column Headers, who have been actively involved in the forefront of scientific research and clinical practice and devoted their precious time and effort to organizing the excellent focused issues (Table 1, 2) and special columns (Table 3) which demonstrate the cutting-edge knowledge, techniques, and discussions in their professional fields to our readers.

Moreover, there are still our Section Editors, Reviewers and Readers worldwide that we could not express our appreciation one by one.

Currently, APM is indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus and SCIE. We can’t achieve this without the continuous support and contributions from APM’s editorial board members, guest editors, authors, reviewers and readers. We here would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of them. APM upholds AME’s philosophy and standards in running journals. We will keep striving to publish high-quality articles and make APM to the forefront in the field of palliative medicine.
