The book, The Art and Science of Palliative Medicine, with Dr. Howard S. Smith and Dr. Julie G. Pilitsis as the co-editors and dozens of promising experts in palliative care, is now officially published with both hard-copy and e-copy available.
Physical technologies have already been used widely in the current medicine, in palliative care as well. In this special issue for Annals of Palliative Medicine, we include some physical methods in palliation: radiotherapy for metastases patients, photodynamic therapy, stent placement, radiofrequency ablation.

As the Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Palliative Medicine, Dr. Howard S. Smith had been dedicated to the palliative care in his whole career life. Since April 2012, Dr. Smith had been working on the preparation of a comprehensive book on palliative medicine as a valuable guidebook for both academic and clinical education.
The Editorial team of Annals of Palliative Medicine will attend ASCO in Chicago at June, ASTRO in Atlanta at September and AHA in Dallas at November in 2013.
